Dolly Parton praises Jesus for her success in her long country music career.
Dolly Parton is one of the biggest country stars ever and she didn’t get there on her own. She says that she prays everyday and feels like Jesus is right there next to her.
Growing up in rural Appalachia as the fourth of twelve children, Dolly knew a thing or two about poverty. Her mother sang all the time and Dolly fell in love with music. Before long she was singing in the church where her grandfather ministered.
“I keep all that stuff very close to my heart. I grew up knowing that Jesus loves me. And I knew that through God all things were possible. I grew up with those things that we just heard all the time. My grandfather was a really good preacher,” she said.
In her television special, “Coat of Many Colors” we get a look into Dolly’s life that many don’t know a lot about. She came from a huge family with little money. When she received a guitar as a child she started writing her own songs.
By the young age of 10 she was already appearing on local TV channels. After high school she followed her dreams and went to Nashville, Tennessee to follow her dreams. With God leading the way she has seen a lot of success, not without struggle, in her music career.
She is so genuine. I love her music and her personality. Generous and kind, what more could you ask for? She’s a woman who speaks her mind. I like the fact that she’s confident enough in her faith to declare her love of Jesus Christ. And doesn’t care who knows it!
